Pvt. Abraham Denton, b. 19 Jul 1839, Tenn. He enlisted 8 Aug 1861
at age 21 at Athens, Tenn., for
12 months, joining up with 3rd Battalion Tenn Cavalry, Co. D. This later became
1st (Carter's) Regt Tenn Cav., Co. C. In Feb 1863, part of this regiment was sent to serve as scouts and an escort for Gen. Carter Stevenson and his division at Vicksburg. He was wounded about 5 Jun 1863, Vicksburg.
