Samuel Monroe Thames was born 1835 in Ala. and died 11 Apr 1918.

He was 27 years of age when he mustered 6 Mar in the 30 Ala Inf, Co. D.

He was captured at Vicksburg 4 Jul 1863 and paroled 8 Jul 1863. He resigned 27 Oct 1863.

Note: On none of his fold3 service cards is he referred to as a Chaplain, leading one to think this came after the war.

He was born He was born 14 Jan 1833 and died 11 Apr 1918.

On 6 Jun 1899, Samuel Monroe Thames  married Ellen Hobart and settled in Vicksburg.
