Hobart, John H., d. 7 Nov 1884; Miss. Capt. Asst. Adjt. Gen.; 21st Miss. Inf., Co. A; 28 years old and single when enlisted, b. in N.Y., residing in Vicksburg, by occupation a clerk. He was present at Seven Pines, Savage Station, Malvern Hill (where he was wounded), Maryland Heights, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg 11 Dec 1862, Fredericksburg 13 Dec 1861, Marye’s Heights, Fredericksburg 4 May 1863, Gettysburg 2 and 3 July 1863, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Campbell’s Station, Siege of Knoxville, Wilderness 6 May 1864 (where he was severely wounded). In Oct 1864, he was on wounded furlough, and in Mar of 1865, it was noted that he has “retired.” (fold3.com/image/76952730/) |
