Martin, Issac, Pvt., Co. K, 43rd Tennessee Infantry, was a resident of
Hamilton, Co., Tenn. He was age 21 when he enlisted October 17, 1861, at Ooltewah, Tenn. He died March 26, 1863 at Vicksburg.

He was the brother of Alfred D., James, and John Martin all of Co. K.

This entry is from the diary of Isaac Stamper, 43rd Tennessee, 26 Mar 1863:

All quiet. No duty for the 43rd Regiment. Isaac Martin, company K, died and
was buried with military honors. Prayer meeting after roll call. Several went
to mourner’s bench.


Note: The 43rd at the time was located at Reynold’s camp, about four miles
south of the city with companies rotating on picket duty at Warrenton.
