Ward Kniffin, Musician in Companies B, F, and F of 43 Miss Inf. He enlisted 1 May 1862 in Columbus and 31 Aug 1862 in Saltillo, Miss., when he was transferred to the band. For the Sep and Oct and the Nov and Dec 1862 muster roll calls, he was absent and sick in hospital. For Jan and Feb 1863, he was back on duty.He appears on a list of casualties of Herbert's Brigade at the siege of Vicksburg, killed 18 Jun 1863. Another report says he was killed in Vicksburg, 25 Jun 1863.
