McMahan, William, Sgt., b. 1843, Warren Co.; d. 31 Aug 1911 in Confederate Hospital Annex, age 68; bur. 31 Aug 1911; his rosewood finish coffin, head board, and other funeral expenses -- $14.50 -- were paid for by the UCV (United Confederate Veterans); 48th Miss. Inf., Co. E. Service record gives middle initial as B. Fisher Funeral Home record gives middle initial as A. According to the Salassi book, a grave marker is present but it has not been located. Mississippi Confederate Grave Registrations shows burial in Warren County, Miss., and his service in the 48th Miss. Inf. He is interred on the west edge of Soldiers Rest.
