According to the Mississippi Confederate Graves Registration, Charles F. Borchert, born in Georgia, served in the 8th Georgia Infantry. The web site fold3.com does not seem to have records for this soldier.

The grave marker of Charles F. Borchert (Dec. 23, 1837 - Dec. 2, 1906) has fallen over backwards in the grass.

Below, the grave has an initialed footstone.

The empty shepherd's hook is all that shows this is the grave of a CSA veteran. Some shameless thief has stolen this soldier's Southern Cross of Honor. Below, right, the footstone. Note the fallen headstone, a mark of vandalism of the veteran's grave.

Interred with him are his wife Martha L. Stockard (5 Apr 1847 - 31 Dec 1896); daughter Alice May Borchert (18 May 1876 - 8 Jan 1941); daughter Erma Shas Borchert (15 Feb 1878 - 22 Sep 1961); and other family members.
